BE 1251 and BE 2350 Grader

As a grader, I provided constructive feedback to the students, collaborated with the instructor, and detailed the grading rubrics. Every fall, LSU offers an introductory Biological Engineering course. From Fall 2021 to Fall 2024, I was asked to be a grader for the course. I, along with three or four other graders, graded for 110 to 160 BE freshmen. Likewise, every spring, LSU offers an instrumentation course within the BE curriculum. From Spring 2023 to Spring 2024, I was also asked to be a grader for this course. I, along with two or three other graders, graded 50 to 70 sophomores and juniors.

ME 2543 Supplemental Instructor

LSU's supplemental instruction program enlists students with a high performance in a class to help students currently enrolled in that class. In February 2023, I received an email from the Director of Academic Affairs of Chevron Center of Engineering Education, asking me to interview for the MATLAB SI position for Spring 2023.

I began holding sessions near the end of February. Each week, I reviewed homeworks and class examples and held office hours. For the exams, I created practice problems and review guides for the 101 students enrolled in all three sections of the course. Additionally, I participated in weekly trainings to learn various teaching methods and how to adapt to the new program changes. To learn the students' strengths and weaknesses, I coordinated with the professors and set up meetings with them to discuss overall class performance.

Precalculus R2R Tutor

R2R stands for "Roadmap to Redesign," which is a program to help MATH 1021 (Algebra) and MATH 1022 (Precalculus) students enrolled in large freshmen classes obtain a better grasp on the material covered in lectures. Students are only in lecture for one hour, but they are required to spend a certain amount of time in the LSU Math Lab to work on their homeworks, quizzes, and other math assignments. As a tutor, I walked around the lab and assisted students as they needed help. Students work at their own pace and raise their hand when they need help understanding a concept or solving problems. The math lab has 254 computers available for students to use. I tutored from Fall 2021 to Spring 2023.

Notetaker

LSU Disability Services asks students to sign up to be notetakers for students with learning disorders. I provided timely reports of class activities and lectures. The following list describes which classes I have been a notetaker for:

  • Differential Equations and Linear Algebra (Fall 2021)

  • Organic Chemistry (Spring 2022)

  • Biochemistry (Fall 2022)

  • Human Anatomy (Spring 2023)

  • Adolescent Psychology (Fall 2023)

Even though I was only able to help one student at a time in this capacity, I hope that having someone to count on to relay the correct information made their studying easier.
